NYC Footy Soccer League exists to provide a regular and co-ed athletic recreational adult soccer league for any adults interested in the fundamentals of good sportsmanship, fair play, honesty and fun competition. We expect all participants, both active and inactive, to respect these fundamentals.
Unsportsmanlike conduct, poor attitude, disrespect or vulgarity will not be tolerated at any time.
We are striving to create the best adult coed league possible for all persons, and only proper conduct and attitude of the participants, both on and off the field, can ensure a successful program. We expect the full cooperation of all those participating in the program to achieve this goal.
TEAMS AND PLAYERS
NYC Footy leagues are open to any player over the age of 18 by the first game of the season.
All players must be listed on the team roster and have uniform numbers on file to be eligible.
Rosters can be adjusted throughout the first ½ of the season (default date). Seasonal roster freeze dates may be listed on the NYC Footy website and override default of season midpoint. Players cannot be added to teams past the date rosters are frozen.
All players must sign a liability release waiver prior to any form of participation in any NYC Footy match.
Individual players may only play on one team in each division. However, players are free to join multiple divisions playing in different formats or different dates if available. (i.e. an individual can not play on two Sunday evening coed division teams, however the individual may join a Sunday coed division team and simultaneously join a Thursday evening coed team as well.)
During the regular season, if (and only if) a team shows up with less than seven (7) players (but more than the five (5) required to avoid forfeit), the team may pick up a non-roster substitute, if and only if the non-roster substitute is a registered player in the NYC Footy league and has signed a waiver.
A one (1) goal penalty per non-roster substitute is applied to the offending team. For instance, if a team scores four (4) goals and used two non-roster substitutes, the final goal tally for that team is two (2) goals and not four (4).
Non-Roster substitutes are prohibited for playoff and championship games.
7v7 A full playing team is seven (7). A minimum of five (5) players is required to start and finish a match. Each coed 7v7 team team must have at least two (2) females to start and finish the match. Teams playing with one (1) females will play with six (6) total players. Teams playing with no (0) female will play with five (5) total players.
No offsides will be called.
For fouls inside the penalty box, penalty kicks will be awarded to the opposing team at the top of the box. For all other fouls, indirect kicks will be awarded. All free kicks are indirect.
Penalty kicks takers are allowed one step to the ball before striking. If multiple steps are taken, kick will be retaken once then declared a miss on 2nd offense.
Opposing teams must give free kicks 5 yards of space.
No slide tackling allowed. Any slide deemed dangerous play by the referee will be whistled. The keeper is the only player allowed to slide to get the ball, provided that the slide is legal.
A goal cannot be scored directly from a kickoff, corner kick, throw in, goal kick, goal keeper throw or throw in. It must make any contact with either team first.
Substitutions are unlimited, and may be made on any dead ball. No substitutions on the fly. All substitutions will be made from the same location for each team throughout the game (sideline or endline) as determined by the referee.
Play-offs: If the game is tied and goes to kicks, teams must alternate male and female kickers, starting with a male.
Yellow and red cards are issued under the same cardable offenses outlined by the USSF. If one of the 7 yellow or red cardable offenses occurs, USSF laws will be followed, and a yellow or red card will be administered.
Yellow Card offenses: Players receiving a yellow card will have to sit out for 2 minutes of game time following the offense. The offending player;s team cannot substitute for the offending player and must play a player down during the 2-minute penalty time.
Ejections: Players sent off with a red card must sit out the remainder of the game, and his/her team must play down one player the remainder of the game. A red card will result in a player suspension. This suspension will be a minimum of one full game. The suspension may be any length from one game to permanent, depending on the circumstances and severity of the situation.
Any player who is ejected from a game may be subject to further penalty if the offense committed warrants such penalty. Upon request by the referee or supervisor, ejected players may be called for a review by the NYC Footy board.
Any player who receives 2 red cards in a single season for violent play/misconduct during the season will be banned from NYC footy for the remainder of the season and/or year depending on the gravity of offense. Suspension length will be decided by the NYC Footy board.
Any player who starts a fight will automatically be suspended for the remainder of the season. Other players involved will face appropriate consequences.
Any player who initiates intentional physical contact to the referee or NYC Footy representatives will be suspended for life from all NYC Footy programs.

LEAGUE SCHEDULES AND STANDINGS
Schedules will be posted prior to the beginning of the season. Games are played rain or shine.
Games will only be canceled due to hazardous weather conditions (lightning, severe thunderstorm warning, tornado warning, hurricanes) or hazardous field conditions. NYC Footy weather hotline (347) 90-FOOTY (347-903-6689) will provide up to date details in case of game cancellation, and team managers will be notified.
NYC Footy requires that a team captain or player notify the league 24 hours in advance if the team must forfeit.
If a team does not notify the league in advance, the team may be subject to a 1-game suspension.
If a team forfeits twice without notifying the league or three times with notification, the team may be subject to expulsion from the league for the remainder of the season.
In the event a team does not plan to forfeit, but does not have enough players to field a team at game time, the referee may grant the opposing team a victory by forfeit; there may be some occasions when games will not be started on time due to previous game(s) running late. Forfeit time on these occasions will be when the officials call both teams to start the game.
Forfeits by notification or by referee discretion will be treated as a 5-0 loss. Forfeits without advanced notification will be treated as a 10-0 loss. Multiple forfeits can result in suspension from future games and those teams may not be permitted to register in future seasons.
If a team is short players, or for any other reason cannot field a team to play, that team can try to pick up players from other NYC Footy teams at the field. Pick up players must be registered active players in NYC Footy.
